Scholarship opportunities
Thumb_scholarship_winner_lauren Every year we give away four $500 scholarships to students, who has been selected by their guidance counselor. We do this in these partner schools, Bishop Carroll, Central Cambria, Admiral Perry Vo Tech and Blacklick Valley.
Dictionary Project
Thumb_dictionary We are proud to partner with the Dictionary Project and our local elementary schools. Third grade students at Blacklick Valley, Central Cambria, Holy Name and Cambria County Christian and Jackson Elementary are gifted an actual dictionary to help them with their language skills.
Highway Cleanup
Thumb_rotary Twice a year a crew of us, organized by Rotarian Jim Stratton, put on our protective gear and clean up a 2 mile stretch of Route 219. We have a lot of fun as we help keep our community looking beautiful.
Ebensburg Potato Fest
Thumb_potato-soup-2 Our members, led by our Potato Soup Guru, Melissa Knox, cook up 100 gallons of our club's famous potato soup. We sell it by the cup, bowl, bread bowl and even in a bread bowl at the annual Potato Fest in downtown Ebensburg. Proceeds help us to continue our community donations.
Dickens of a Christmas
Thumb_cody_josh_etc_057 Getting into the theme of this wonderful Ebensburg event, some of our members serve up delicious hot chocolate to the folks who are visiting Santa after the parade. We do this as a community service to show the hospitality of our town.
World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh
Thumb_waca-2-250x96 Annually we provide an opportunity for a few local students to attend a World Affairs event in Pittsburgh, accompanied by one of our Rotarians. This year, Rotarian Jim Stratton accompanied 2 Central Cambria Students to Pittsburgh to learn about Cuba and the World Economy.
Recent Donations
Thumb_food_pantry_donations_2016 In the past year, we have donated thousands of dollars back into our community through local non profits including the United Way of the Laurel Highlands; Home Nursing Agency; Cambria County Child Development; Central Cambria Special Deliveries Program; Interfaith Community Food Pantry; Northern Cambria Mobile Food Pantry and Cresson Lake Playhouse. We are also a member of the Main Street Partnership in Ebensburg and proudly participate in their activities. On a larger scale, we donate to programs sponsored by Rotary International including Potty Mouth, and Shelter Box along with contributions to the Rotary Foundation.
One Book One Community
Thumb_one_book Annually we proudly participate with Penn Highlands Community College and the other Rotary Clubs in Cambria County to make this event possible for our area students.
Cub Scout Pack 98
Thumb_csp We proudly sponsor our local Cub Scout Pack
Community Gardens
Trail Head S. Center Street
Thumb_daisies Thanks to the leadership of Rotarian Fred Creany, who is the lead on this project, the club members get together a few times a year to plant, weed, water and upkeep the beautiful gardens on the south end of town by the trail head. This year, each garden will be sponsored and cared for by one of the businesses who our members own or work for.
Concerts in the Park
Thumb_dancing_in_the_park We proudly sponsor one of the Concerts in Penn Eben Park during the month of August annually.
Enjoy a place to sit and take in the beauty of our community
Thumb_past_president_s_bench We have placed benches close to Lake Rowena, at the borough pool and by the flower gardens. These benches were made by students at Admiral Peary Vo Tech and honor past Rotary Club of Ebensburg presidents by featuring their names on plaques that were crafted by students at Blacklick Valley High School.
